Dallas is the third-most-populous city in the state of Texas and the ninth-most-populous in the United States. It is also the largest city in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area which includes the cities of Fort Worth and Arlington (home of the Texas Rangers). Many colleges are located in and around Dallas, most notably Southern Methodist University.
