Danny Peoples was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the first round of the 1996 amateur draft. In the 1993 World Junior Championship, he was the All-Tournament 1b after hitting .412 with a .794 slugging percentage, 9 runs, 9 RBI and 3 triples in 34 AB. He led the Silver Medal-winning Team USA in average, beating out several major leaguers, and had the best average in the round-robin phase (.461).
