[edit] Biographical Information
Darold Knowles is the only player ever to pitch in 7 games in one World Series.
He played for the Lowry City Bulldogs before going to the University of Missouri. He saved 27 games for the Washington Senators in 1970 despite a won-lost record of 2-14. He missed the 1972 World Series when he broke his thumb on September 27; he had gone 5-1, 1.36, with 11 saves for the Oakland Athletics that season. As a result, the seven games in which he appeared in the 1973 World Series against the New York Mets were the only World Series games of his career. He was still a member of the A's for the 1974 World Series, but his record that year was only 3-3, 4.22, in 45 games, and manager Alvin Dark did not call on him against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
