Edgar Alfonzo is the manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Penn League. He is the older brother of Edgardo Alfonzo and Roberto Alfonzo and the father of minor league pitcher Edgar Alfonzo, Jr.. His nickname is Fonzie.
He was a long-time minor league player before obtaining his first managerial job with the Kingsport Mets in 2000. He managed the Cyclones in 2001, then was the hitting coach for the St. Lucie Mets in 2002 and Binghamton Mets in 2003. He spent 2004-2006 as the New York Mets’ Minor League Infield Coordinator.
