The World Baseball Championship was a series played in 1972 between the champions of the American Association, International League, Pacific Coast League, the Hawaii Islanders and a group of All-Star players from the Latin American Winter Leagues. Attendance was poor, with only 1,877 fans coming to see hometown Hawaii in the opener and 992 fans coming out to the finale, which the All-Stars won 6 to 2 against the Albuquerque Dukes.
